Most of the braces we offer are off-the-shelf and require measurements to ensure a proper fit. For example, knee braces typically need measurements of three specific areas around your knee. Once we have your measurements, we can order the correct size for you. Some braces, like tennis elbow braces, are one-size-fits-all and do not require a fitting appointment.
Custom braces are different and involve more extensive measurements. These are usually rigid, made-to-measure knee braces, such as those needed after an ACL tear. Custom knee braces are more expensive and require a therapist to take accurate measurements at multiple points around the knee. An example of a custom brace is our 3D-printed knee brace.
Here are the steps to get a custom brace:
Get a prescription for custom bracing from a physician (only needed for insurance reimbursement for custom bracing and certain brace types)
No appointment needed for off-the-shelf braces (or book an appointment for custom braces)
Order is submitted to our supplier (full payment required)
Receipt is provided for insurance reimbursement
Brace arrives in a few days for off-the-shelf braces and longer for custom orders
Insurance companies require that certain forms be filled out and submitted to approve a claim for any products, including custom bracing. Because of this, these products are not eligible for direct billing to insurance. We provide a receipt at the time of your appointment that you can submit manually for reimbursement.
Yes. Almost all insurance companies require a prescription for custom bracing by a physician (in some cases a Chiropractor can provide this as well, depending on your insurance plan).
If you don't have one already, we recommend obtaining a prescription from your family doctor or a virtual health platform prior to a custom brace fitting or contact us to help you.
We do not provide refunds for custom products as they are measured specifically for your knee. Off-the-shelf braces cannot be returned for hygienic reasons.
